    HF catalog showed up today

Out of the blue and completely unexpected, I received a Harbor Freight sale catalog in the mail today. Three-four years ago I used to get two versions of the same sale catalog along with their regular "full"catalog every few weeks. Then, all of a sudden, nothing. I have not been to or ordered from HF in over two years and today this shows up. Go figure.

No matter how many times I submitted that "Receive our in store only flyer via maill" card I never received a store flyer via mail.

The only thing I can think of is that they purchased a mailing list that had my info. Anybody else receive one for "no reason"?

I got one but then I have been on their mailing list for years and get them all the time.

I know that for a time they stopped sending them out. I think they thought it was too $$. They actually tried to sell a mailing list membership, so people paid to get their flyers. I'm sure that didn't fly very well, so now I look forward to getting a flyer every few weeks.

To follow or find out who is buying or selling your name and address is probably impossible. I don't know how, but I received Wood, and Shopnotes, out of the clear blue.

I had ordered from HF previously so that's probably it. I do visit the local HF store, but never asked for a flier, but it comes to the house in a selection of other bulk mail.

I saved the good part until last. I'm not complaining about the names and address thing, because out of the blue they started to send Victoria's Secret catalog.

Making the VS catalog look like unsolicited junk mail! I am in awe of your brilliance!

For a time I had several different email addresses that I used when a site wanted an email address. I kept track of which email addy I used with which site, and I could track who was selling what list to what spammer. For legit businesses I changed the email addy to one of my "good" addys after a time. I don't have the time to track them any more...
