I got my Vonage modem today in the mail. I opened it to look at the installation instructions. It was full of pictures and plugging the blue cable into this and the yellow cable into that. I guess I'm not as smart as the average user. I had to read it three times before I figured out that I plug the Vonage WAN port into a spare port on my router. If the instructions were one sentence with no pictures and that is all they said I'd know exactly what to do.
I'm not as smart as I think

I used to have vonage. For reasons beyond me and their"tech support" I could not get it to work in front of the router. (which is the best way) Consequently if i was downloding a large file the phone would be intermittent when using it.
I dropped vonage mainly bacause of that but I'm considering it again and hoping I get all the right bits that talk to each other correctly this time. -
I had a similar problem with ikea stuff. No words just little man with a "happy face" on how to do it....followed up with the occasional "sad face" like a warning of "don't do it this way". Words people use freaking words!!!!Awww forget trying to fix it!!!! Lets just drink beer

You guys ever try Skype. I get really good reception with it and have called as far as Toronto (I live in Los Angeles, Ca) with little to no lag time. I don't even have a very good headset. Only disadvantage is if you use a phone instead of your computer you lag a little more. But the biggest plus for me and the reason I use it........ IT'S FREE!!!

If you're thinking about getting it again, go ahead because putting it in front of the router is really only 'best' for them.I used to have vonage. Translation:if it works in front, they don't have to help with router settings.Comment

Glad you got it working. How's it working so far?I got my Vonage modem today in the mail. I opened it to look at the installation instructions. Also, don't forget to set up the 911 stuff thru the website if you haven't already!Comment

So far it is working great. I only set it up last night - made one call back to my office and that went fine. 911 stuff is set up. When Vonage was first released 911 was a concern of mine. My brother is is a First Responder/EMT and uses Vonage. I know he researched it pretty well so I figured if he was comfortable with it now then I was.David
