Rockler has one, and you can get the shipping free. Not sure if these are the same models, but they are both flat.

Rockler has the same model but it is more expensive at Rockler ($11.95, If I remember right, but I don't trust my memory as much as I use to anymore)

If you can use a shorter flat tape, you could always go to a fabric store and get a tape there. They usually have the flat, flexible types.

I use the standard FastCap tape, and really like it (apart from the white blade: I'd prefer yellow). But ... how is the flatback model in actual use? It seems to me it'd be kinda aggravating, and would be difficult to keep under control.

Is it one of those things that you use ONLY for the specific problem it was meant to solve, and deal with its characteristics because that's the best way to solve the problem?

Amazon has the best price approx. $6.50 and if you end up ordering more than $25.00, the shipping is free.

I have the flat model (there's only one model) and its one of my most intelligent tools.

The flat back is good for laying out cut lines and just layout work in general. I like the non glare surface and the black on white lettering it seems to be easier on these old eyes. I don't think it would be that good for general measuring where you would want the stiffer tape.
