    Ts blades

Does Sears or Home Depot carry any decent general purpose blades. I need a new blade for my Craftsman 21829 cause the blade it came with is junk. Id like to get locally and not order. Looking to spend around $50 if possible. Thanks

You'll likely get the most for your money outside of Sears and HD. Both are hit and miss, but both have some of the entry level Freud stuff that's ok, HD has the Ridgid titanium series which is made by Freud to similar standards, some HD's have the Sears 40 DeWalt TK's, series has very limited availability of the Freud Industrial series ("L" prefix).

Sears website shows a 50T Freud LU84 for $60, but it's a full kerf.... you're saw will seem more powerful with a good thin kerf (TK). Freud makes an LU83 TK version of the LU84...they also make a 40T LU86 gen purp TK that are both a step up from the Avanti and Diablo lines for near the same cost if you shop around. HD will have the Ridgid R1050 50T TK combo that's not bad....they might have the DW7150 TK that's pretty good and should have larger teeth than the R1050.

Holbren's got the Tenryu Rapid Cut 40T "mid kerf" for $30 shipped...great value.

Infinity's got the 50T combo TK on sale for $50...that's a really nice blade.

Amazon's got alot of blades on sale right now with free s/h.

HD carries a Freud Diablo mod D1040 A. $29. I've been using one for years. Best bang for the buck and you can get it locally. Pat

+1 what Popeye says. I have a WWII and bought the Diablo when the WWII was out getting sharpened. I haven't fealt a need to reinstall the WWII blade, the Diablo is that good.

          I am with Popeye
I have a Diablo on the chop saw one table saw and even on the hand circular saw
You might want to also look at the new Port Cable combo blade part rip and part cross cut
Been testing it for a few months on the BT3K and LIKE it allot
Smooth cut minimal tear out but I believe it is slightly above your price request

You wont' go wrong with Diablo though

I bought a Hitachi 40 tooth general pupose blade from Amazon for $17.00. It leaves a nice edge and crosscuts plywood with very little tearout. The blade has good carbide so it will last through some sharpenings. For $17.00 it is worth checking out.

The blade on my saw is a Porter Cable variable tooth Razor. 50 tooth blade. It is a great combination blade - cross cuts are very clean and rips are good enough that I haven't put my rip blade on in a long time. It is also a good deal quieter than any of my other blades - so much so that when I first installed it I was convinced something was wrong with the saw.

I picked this blade up from Holbren to try, and since then is the main blade on my BT3100, even though I have other Freuds ... the blade leaves a nice edge for ripping and crosscutting ... a great general purpose blade for the price.

                  Freud Avanti 50 tooth.

I also took out the standard blade in the 21829 because of the high suck factor. After doing some research on blades (mid range price) I chose the Freud Avanti 50 tooth combo blade thin kerf. It has the same tooth pattern and blade pitch angle as the pricier Freud 50 tooth which sells for around $59 the Avanti blade also does not have the extra laser cut expansion areas and no red color. Cuts are smooth in both rip and crosscut (FAS pine). Crosscuts have small amount of down side fringing but nothing major and no worse than the standard 60 tooth blade on my 12" Dewalt Miter saw. Have not tried it on plywood yet. Price of the Freud Avanti 50 tooth combo was $34.95 at Lowes. Sears sells the same blade at $39.

Another vote for the Diablo here..

Watch which you buy though, at our HD they have the diablo all packaged pretty for $40, or, if you look for them, they have a box of blades near the saws, with just plastic rings to protect the teeth, and THOSE diablo's are $30.

Another vote for the Diablo. (why did they choose a name that means devil?)
Anyway, I put one on a BT3100 and it has sawn a lot of 4/4 hickory and is still going strong. I was hesitant to keep the thing but decided to give it a try. I think it was about $30 at HD.
BTW, whay do the box stores have 6 doors for 'Exit' but ony 2 for 'Enter'?
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?

Diablo is great. I have a $15 Diablo CS blade which I mount on my BT to cut things like laminate, aluminum, etc. Even after much abuse it is still good as new, and Diablo TS blades seem to be of same quality. Were it not for the deal I got from Holbren on RC-TS2000, I'd get a Freud.

I've never purchased my blades anywhere other than the BORG , Lowes or Eagle Hardware (a chain that Lowes absorbed a few years ago) and have always found a reasonable selection of Frued blades. I've had no reason to buy anything else. I did buy my stacked dado set (Freud also) elsewhere but you were asking about gen purpose blades.
