Well they broke ground on the new neighbor's house today. The heavy equipment was just arriving when I left for work. Power co was there too. I'd like to be there to watch the house go in. The neighbor says it is a 4 section 1 1/2 story 2700 sqft modular. He said the crane jockey is happy cause there are no trees to worry about.

Uh - Oh, that's just what you need, new neighbors to complain about noise.
OR
Maybe they'll want you to build their new kitchen.

Hope you get good neighbors, David. They're worth their weight in gold. We've been fortunate, with neighbors on both sides being excellent neighbors, but one will be moving this coming summer.
EdDo you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

You know what they say that makes good neighbors - - GOOD FENCES.

David,
If you have a computer-cam, set it up so that it gets a wide shot of your new neighbor's construction. Do a time-lapse. Perhaps every 15 min.
This will satisfy your curiosity, and make a nice welcome gift for your new neighbors. [Wispered][and, notice that you can keep an eye on them if they misbehave.]

You want to watch it go in? That's called an "old man experience", David.
You know, like when you were a kid, whenever they would put in new sewers or whatever required heavy equipment. All the old men would come out of the woodwork to offer commentary on the activity.
LOL! My buddy Bob coined the phrase when I had a portable spa craned into the back yard. He took off from work to watch it happen! He got there before I did, so he got to put on headset for two-way commo with the crane operator, who was operating blind.
Ya gotta do it, man!

Cabinetman, their house will be a few hundred yards away so noise should not be a problem. They have horses so there will be a fence too.
And as for the 'old man experience' I view it as regressing to childhood - big machines are COOL.

Here in the Phoenix area most of the fences are cinder block walls 7' high.
I think the fact that 25% of the population (in AZ) has a concealed weapons permit and carry a gun makes for polite neighbors also.
