Talk about being in the right place at the right time!!!!
I was at a VTC last week and the office was replacing some equipment. I happened to see a couple slide projectors sitting in the pile and asked if I could have them. They said sure. Well I just looked em up and although they are discountinued the projector went for $700 and the lense is almost $700. Only one had a lense though.
Talk about a jackpot...I had been wanting to shoot slides for sometime but the light table and good loupe are pretty expensive so I had put it off.
Now I guess I can start. I tested it out and it was very bright and crisp.
But when I seen how much they are worth I was pretty surprised.

Sounds like a great find.
If you are talking 35 mm slide projectors, I will give you a slight heads up.

If they are Kodak models, they have been out of production for several years, with a promise of parts for up to ten years. Hopefully you took both - you might need the parts.
More and more schools are reducng the number of slide projectors, some eliminating completely.

Check local college media departments as well as art and or medical departments for slide projectors and related equipment. Maybe you can come up with a nice AMX wireless remote control or an irreplaceable Wollensack sync tape recorder or better yet, a multiple projector dissolve unit.

after further investigation the 2nd one has no lense. It connects to a computer or monitor with a vga connection. They are both kodak but the digital one is navitar upgrade I guess.

the lense is a 150-235mm f3.5. At the length of my living room the pic isnt overly huge. I imagine it could project quite a large picture if I had more space. And looking at bulbs I would guess this is past its usefull life but is still quite bright. Im sure the recommended life has less to do with brightness and more with color shift but since I have never shot slides or had a projector im not sure. I have a box of slides from my wedding and they look pretty decent. it wasnt velvia or anything and they were all low light/flash photos and look pretty decent.
I'll have to try and order some bulbs to have on hand i guess.

i do like my kodak ultra color negative film but I guess I will learn more about my photograhy with slides as they are less forgiving but based on everything I read have much more vivid color.

Which model of Kodak? I may have some extra stuff taking up space at work.

there are models that were adapted to work with multi-media systems. At work we have on Elmo slide projector connected to the big LCD projecter system in our auditorium. Crestron controlled - never been used.
