    The Playoff Picks Thread

Bears/Seahawks - Bears. Defense is better than Seahawks offense and Grossman will do just enough to win.

Saints/Eeagles - Saints. Pro Bowl Quarterback and Coach of the Year. Plus all the Saints' karma this year. The football gods are smiling on this team.

Colts/Ravens - Ravens. The game is going to be smashmouth football. Indy does not deal well with smashmouth on either side of the ball.

Chargers/Pats - I am picking the Pats because of Bill Belichick in big games. He stopped the Bills (top offense in the league) in '91 Super Bowl. He stopped the Rams 10 yrs later. He will figure out a way to stop the Chargers.

I like Greg's picks but might not be able to pick against the Pats when they have time to prepare. Belicheck is downright scary good if he has time to prepare.Marty S. is the exact opposite.

        I've gotta go with:
        Bear
        Saints
        Colts*
        Pats

*I don't have delusions that the Colts D looked so good last week all because of them, KC just sucked. But sitting in Indy, wearing my Colts T-shirt only allows me to pick on team for this one. I have to route for New England, because if we get past the Ravens, we have a better chance against NE than the Chargers.

The difference between this year and past play-offs for Marty is that he is letting the assistant coaches have more control over the game. Cam Cameron, the offensive coordinator, calls all the plays and has done a stellar job this year (as evidenced by his being interviewed by just about every team with a head coach opening.)

I watched a portion of a Tom Brady interview last night in which he admitted the Pats aren't the same team they have been in the past. I admit it will be a tough game for the Chargers, but coaching can only be responsible for so much. They still have to play the game. The Chargers have beat the Pats in their last two meetings, once here and once in New England. The Chargers have also limited ticket sales to their home playoff games to Southern California residents only which will make the crowd more of a factor as well (Chicago has done the same thing for their games.)

I like New Orleans and San Diego this year. Both for the same reason, their exciting running backs. Reggie Bush gives 100% every time he touches the ball - and all of him is a lot of football player. I hope he never gets hurt...

And LT might be the best ever, for the following reasons:
He has the full complement of RB skills, as good as anyone
He has the full complement of WR skills, as good as anyone
He throws the ball for touchdowns, the X factor.
Oh yeah, he's cool in the endzone.

                What he said.........

I wouldn't bet against the Pats or for the Bears. Got to learn that first lesson twice in back to back years. Grossman has been absolutely Jekyll and Hyde this year.

Well, I'm 3 for 3 so far. Good Pats. I like how everyone in the media keeps saying that the Colts can't play smash mouth football. Come on Pats! We want a home game.

4 for 4. Go Pats. I don't think Indy could be San Diego, but we can beat New England.

                        New round:
                        Saints
                        Colts

I disagree and am going with Saints and Pats. If SD had won I'd pick Indy. I want Indy to win but do not expect it too. The Patriots is a very disciplined, well-coached team. It rarely makes mistakes and beat teams better than it by letting the other team make mistakes such as San Diego and some of the penalties it had.

Heck with that; Saints vs. Colts. Modern day O.K. Corral. After the Ravens held Indy to 5 field goals, I'm ready to see some fireworks.
