Give the Gators credit, their defense played an awesome game. That D line was incredible, I haven't seen a push like that against an Ohio State O-Line in awhile (well, 3-4 years, anyway). Their offense had the PERFECT game plan--short underneath stuff with a quick delivery to negate any blitz. I HATE to admit it, but Tressel got outcoached, period.
Heisman jinx, SI jinx, whatever, OSU got DESTROYED tonight, and it sucks. An intersting note on the SI jinx--SI had several pre-season covers (OSU, USC, ND, more?) I don't think Florida had one....hmmmm
It was the Boise State Aura/Karma. If you play a Bowl game in Arizona and want to win, wear Blue and Orange. That is it pure and simple. Now lets see if Boise will be named #2 as I think they are now the only undefeated team in the BCS Bowl series.
Ohio State was obviously an undeserving participant
I'm curious, how did you arrive at that conclusion? Because they lost last night?
Did any other team in the nation beat the #2 ranked team...twice (Texas and Michigan)? Who, in your opinion, was more deserving than Ohio State?
Are you basing your decision on how they performed last night? Because if that's the case, then it could be said that any team that loses a bowl game didn't deserve to be there.

The question about whether or not the Buckeyes (or any Big 10) team should have gotten the Bowl games they did rests with analyzing the records of the teams the Buckeyes played.
The fact that Ohio was destroyed so readily, brings to question how good were the teams that Ohio had defeated this season. A LOT of why Ohio was in the Championship was the hype Ohio got all year.
But that's just second guessing. The PROOF was on the field. It's not a matter of losing the game, it's a matter of being outclassed in every aspect of the game.
As I watched the other bowl games it seemed all the announcers could talk about at halftime was how good Ohio State, USC and Michigan was so being a SEC fan I was glad to see Florida win big. Although all of them are good football teams maybe they now realize Florida deserved to be there.

I love it when the Media is caught off guard like last night and then spend the game stumbling all over themselves to CYA. The media had just about given the game to Ohio before the game started. The layoff,51 days, was a factor but the Gators were prepared. The BCS is a flawed system and biased they should have play off system. If the can have 50+ days before the Championship game there is plenty of time to have a play off among 10 or 12 teams.
Somehow I had a feeling Florida would win this game. Just like most other titles, if the game were played again, there might very well be a much different outcome. Congrats to the Gator fans, and sympathy to the Buckeyes.
the smurf turf rules, and dont take this the wrong way...but...boise state didnt play anybody, i mean what team COULDNT go undefeated playing bethel-berry tech and northwest wyoming school for the blind...going undefeated is counted second when you incorporate strength of schedule and the other mysterious factors in the BCS supercomputer...
so in their conference, they are top dog, bring them to the SEC, and you get what you got last night- a defense moving at the speed of light shutting down the run, and with a secondary that can beat your recievers to the punch every time...the west coast track team offense doesnt win championship games when the other team plays defense...
everyday should be saturday

The decision for OS to go for it on 4th down deep in their territory during the latter part of the 2nd quarter has to rank as a HUGE coaching mistake. Sometimes mistakes like that have a huge ripple effect that wears down morale and changes the momentum of the game. (If they had made the 4th down things might have turned out very differently!)
I heard one commentator mention that SEC teams tend to emphasize speed, whereas Big 10 emphasizes size and strength. In this matchup I guess we saw which approach won.

There needs to be a playoff. The whole BCS is BS. Could you imagine if the NFL had a computer based system to determine who should play in the Super Bowl! It's all too subjective and there is always controversy. I mean why shouldn't Boise St. be national champions? They were undefeated. Listen, I don't think Boise St. are national champions, but the BCS as it is leaves too many unanswered questions and speculation.
Well, Ohio was crushed last night, but I can't believe that someone would think they didn't belong there... An undefeated team in the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, or SEC would all deserve to be in a title game. The problem happens when there are 3 undefeated teams, or only 1 (like this year).
My fighting rodents tend to play teams like the aforementioned schools for the blind and whatnot, but claiming that Michigan or Ohio have light schedules is silly. Even in down years, the major conferences are harder opponents on average than the secondaries.
I'm curious, how did you arrive at that conclusion? Because they lost last night?

They didn't just lose last night, they lost any semblence of respect with that atrocious performance.
The wins over Texas and Michigan were decent wins, but that was hyped at the time because of the BCS's reliance on preseason rankings. Let's be honest, preseason rankings are simply speculation, and grants points to teams that haven't played yet, and subsequently benefits them down the road for no reason whatsoever.
But how good do the wins over Texas and Michigan look now? Michigan got dismantled by a USC team that lost to UCLA and Oregon State. Texas didn't even win the Big 12 south, and lost to Kansas State, A&M, etc.
Ohio State obviously didn't deserve to be there, and I think the score indicates that.....no way you can defend the opposite.
