    Mount St. Helens erupting?!!

Man the Northwest US people are getting hit this winter, Big Snow Storm, then the Big Windstorm, now Mount St. Helen's is erupting!!

Currently they are saying it's only a minor eruption, lets hope that is the worst it gets.

Minor eruption? Isn't that like a minor flood?

It seems like when things go bad, they just keep going that way for a while. I feel for the people who might be affected by it.

I haven't seen anything on the news here about an eruption, just venting steam which happens quite often.

Sorry if I got anyone all worried over nothing.

When I first started this thread, CNN.com was talking about a minor eruption. Then they down played it more and more. Then they said it was venting steam. Now, a little over 2 hours later, I have to really dig to even find mention of it at CNN.com ??!!

Got a feeling that since that area is swarming with media with everything going on out there. Someone not familiar with the area saw it vent steam and freaked out. They were even showing live pictures of it on CNN.com for a little while.

I know I saw it!!! I'm not crazy (well, maybe a little but that is another story), I know I saw it!!

You must be crazy. Otherwise you're implying that the TV news was blowing something out of proportion...making news where there wasn't any. No, say it ain't so...

Here's a Mt.St Helens story that I still think is funny. In 1981 just a few months after the eruption, I saw a family parked by the side of the freeway. They were pointing to the steam plume coming out of the coal steam plant in Centralia, around 150 miles from St Helens. The plant is just over the hill from the freeway, so all you can see is the plume. Anyway, it was obvious that they thought they were witnessing a huge eruption of St Helens and everybody else was oblivous to it. They had their video camera going. I would love to hear the commentary on that video.

Here is link to the Mt. St Helens cam. The site also gives updates. You can watch a steam plume in he comfort of your own home, that is you can if it is daylight.

Mt. St. Helens vents steam almost as often as I do. My wife reacts about them same to both.
