    Faces Of Meth

These are simultaneously scary ... and sad. The initial display is the "Before" of each person; mouse over the picture to see the "After." Also note that there's a second page (link at extreme lower right corner).

There is a commericial running on our local cable that has some of those pictures on it. It is sad what that drug will do to people.

The first time that I saw that commericial it reminded me of some people that I have seen since I graduated high school and they looked so nice in school and now I won't even let my kids go near them.

I also made sure that our kids watched the commericial and talked to them about the use of drugs and what it will do to people and the consequences. Its a good conversation starter if you are going to talk with your kids about drugs.

The bottom pic in the middle column (page 1) is way too freaky.

Larry, thanks for sharing this. Great tool for teaching kids to stay away from this stuff!

Very sad and something everyone should have a look at but especially our children. Although there is one set of pictures that seems like an improvement to me. Not sure why they'd put him in there.

I think they might have gotten 1 of them turned around because I also thought there was 1 that looked like an improvement. I'm pretty sure that isn't so.

They have a video type thing with the same photos and some music playing in the background. Unlike most anti-drug stuff out there, I thought it was very effective. Meth is some nasty stuff.

I lived thru the Meth nightmare. My oldest son is an addict. Before he got busted in a rolling lab, and ultimately did federal time, he tipped the scales at a whopping 140 with his 6-3 frame.

Now, at 32, he has been clean for 5 years, square with the legal system, married to a wonderful girl he has known since he was 15, and weighs in just over 200!

That's fantastic, Pappy. My hairstylist just completed a program for meth, alcohol and weed. We didn't have any idea she was using but afterwards she told me her entire life was consumed on where her next fix was coming from. We are praying she stays clean but the odds are against her. She's no kid, either at 44.

Don, sorry to hear what your family and your boy had to go through b/c of this garbage. Great to hear things had gotten so much better. From what I read on the site, he's one of the lucky ones.

                  Best,
                  Greg

Pappy, I had no idea about your son, and I hope my posting this here didn't cause you any undue pain.

It's really, REALLY good to read that he's gotten his life back on track and is doing well.

I second the wishes for Pappy. I too hope this hasn't caused pain, but I tend to think this is another opportunity for Pappy, and Howard, and others to celebrate the victory their loved ones have had over this evil. My BIL has finally been able to get off the bottle after years of it ruining his life. When I hear of others' inability to handle this I am reminded of the difficulty of those years; but then I turn my thoughts to today and what he has defeated. He hasn't completely whipped it, because one more drink could send him spiraling back down, but he has been dry for 6 years, something we really had no hope of seeing. What makes this so compelling for me is that his sis, my wife's twin, just lost her husband to complications from cirrhosis, something he'd been told by his doc he had over 2 years ago yet he never told my SIL and never slowed down his drinking. Sad what this kind of stuff can do to people. So, I say we celebrate those who have the victory, and pray for and help those who haven't.

That's great to hear your son made it through that Pappy. I suspect all of us have someone connected to us that has been touched by this drug whether we know it or not.

Greg, I was referring to the guy with the bleached hair in the after picture. Other than hair he didn't look much different to me.

Going through that site, the 'children' section just sets me boiling. Reading about 11-19 month old kids - sick, filthy, neglected, found in meth homes... Being a father of a 16-month girl myself, I wish I could get my hands on those 'parents'.
