Well, Cheeky (and others) I'm sorry to hear you got a ticket. I'm also sorry that you really did not get your day in court. I am glad for you, though, that you did get out of having to pay for the ticket, guilty or not.

But, I am a retired highway patrol officer. I never once wrote a speeding ticket (and I did write a few in my 26 years) that I was not 100 per cent positive that the vehicle that I stopped and ticketed was not the one that I determined to be speeding. NOT ONCE. If I was not sure or just guessing, I did NOT write the ticket. That was taught to me early on. But I can only speak for myself and my department.

I am sorry that so many of you have had negative experiences with the law enforcement/judicial process. Where I live/work, Officers do show up for court (I am speaking of Highway Patrol Officers, I can not speak for other agencies, but all the ones around here are really the same). There are times where one might be missed, but that is rare. Our department frowns on that as do the courts around here.

Both the law enforcement and the judicial (courts/judges) are very honest people (as far as I know), at least in my experience, but, like anywhere else, bad apples can be found.

Well, I will get off of my high horse now. I am sorry if I offended anyone or made you too mad, but I was a police officer/highway patrolman for 30 years (approx) and I guess I still am even though I am retired and I do take offense to some of the things said. Sorry about that, but I can not help it.

      Best of luck, Frank

Frank, you certainly arn't making me angry in any way, can't speak for the others. I have a few really good friends who are police officers, and they are guilty of hasty conclusions at times.

I certainly earned 2 of my tickets, but I also didn't earn 2 others. I have personally always been younger looking than I actually am in years, and with that has come a certain lack of respect from the police officers with which I've dealt. This is exluding those who I've been lucky enough to teach martial arts to, they've been great respectful students.

I'm sure there are many college students "getting away" with a lot of things, cut that doesn't make all young looking people instantaniously guilty. You should be proud of your record if you are 100% positive on all tickets, sounds like a job well done to me.
