    Toddler burned

This happened the first part of August, but it just stays in my thoughts. He remains in the hospital. I do not know the family.

I'm sure the family would appreciate any prayers you care to send their way, and I'm also sure they would appreciate cards containing nothing more than soothing words from people they never knew existed. They need some kind words at a time like this.

I'm posting newspaper scans concerning this horrible accident. I'm also posting part of a flyer his father's co-workers put out as a fund raiser for him. I'm not asking for donations because this probably isn't the right place for that. But I will not discourage it either. If you want to make a donation, please make it out to Jim Madden.

If you care to send a card, please send it to:

United Steelworkers of America, Local 1011
    3629 Euclid Ave.
    East Chicago, Indiana 46312
    *Attn: Christopher Madden Fund*

    Thank you,
    Ed

Wow, that sort of thing definitely stays with me after I read it. I can never get over reading about tragedies happening to young kids like that, it just hurts reading it. I will definitely pray for him and his family and send something their way. Things like this certainly put things like new band saws in perspective.

Do you have any updated stories on the little guy?
    Joe

Yeah, it surely makes a new toy seem somewhat un-needed.

My oldest son works with the boy's father, but he hasn't seen him since the accident. But I guess he is working at least a little. Might have something to do with keeping his job without having to go to court, I don't know. He is spending the biggest part of his life in Indianapolis, near the hospital now. That's roughly 150 miles from where he works.

I just hope the little guy can pull through it without too many problems facing him.

I noticed that 1 newspaper article said he had 4th degree burns, but I've never heard of that. The other one said 3rd degree. I always thought 3rd degree was the worst. Maybe Mildoc can shed some light on that??

      Thanks.

        Updated.

According to the info on the link below, 4th degree burns are ones which actually destroy more than the skin and have affected muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, etc ... basically a skin graft is required to repair the area and close the wound .... very nasty to say the least, especially at such a young age!

Thanks for that link. If 4th degree is what he actually has, it's no wonder they're talking about a number of surgeries.
