    Check out where I was

    Went to this place today.
    http://www.tree2table.ca

The guy has over 100,000 BF of hardwoods all rough sawn and kiln dried by him on the farm from local woods.
He has walnut slabs from 125 YO tree that are 14 ft long, 3-4 ft wide and 3-4" thick. Table made from one is $10,000.

He doesn't ship so unfortunately you can't get lumber from him sent to you. He has sold wood to Sam Maloof and a bunch of other guys that I don't know but are apparently well known.

Anyways, he gave me some cunks of spalted maple for bowl blanks and I bought some Pear, Holly and Spalted Maple Burl.
Will post a few pics of other finds on my trip on Friday.

Some really unique items there. Might want to bring a PU truck on your next trip there.

Did. It was already full of lumber from my FIL.
Next trip will be in summer and very empty. Might have to bring a bigger truck.

Question for bigsteel15. How did you find out about this guy. And where else around here/there did you get lumber?
I'm stuck in this rut of buying stock from Windsor plywood and the borg. Both of which leave much to be desired.
Windsor wants $4.99/bf for picked over very crooked and rough sawn maple.
And the borg just doesn't have any wood that I'm interested in using.
Taking small amounts of wood cross the boarder shouldn't be a problem, with NAFTA and all. So I wouldn't mind looking a little further north if needed for some better lumber prices.
