    Amazon shipping astounds me!

I've just been waiting for the JET clamps to go on sale and they finally did, so I ordered 10.

All 10 arrived today. In 10 boxes. 10 big boxes. And a few hundred air pillows. All shipped from the same Amazon warehouse.

Amazes me they can ever make any money!

The SAME thing happened to me when I ordered my Jorgy clamps a few months ago. I got 4 big boxes with 36" clamps, 2 medium boxes with 24" clamps, and 2 small boxes with 12" clamps. Ok, maybe none of the boxes were "small" but I mean relative to the others. One clamp in each box and a TON of packing bags. Great stuff. The post office thought I was getting a bed or something...

Exact same with Besseys. I ordered a gaggle of them one time and each and every one was shipped seperately. The 24's were sent in a huge box, but the box wasn't quite long enough. Amazon decided to cut a slit in the box and let about 6" of the end of the clamp to stick out of the box! Luckily all my clamps (and most tools) are shipped from the PA warehouse which is about 10 minutes from my house. I have no idea how some of those shipments can make it across the country. Sometimes Amazon will take cardboard and make a homemade triangle shaped box for the 60" Besseys. Those are reasonable, but still why not ship 4-5 together? I am paying $25 for a clamp that is costing them $15 to UPS.

I don't know. Gaggles are very disorganized and clamps from Amazon . . . .

I had the same thing happen with some Besseys. I thought UPS was at the wrong house when he started unloading all the boxes.

When I ordered the Bessey 30-clamp set, it came all in one box. A VERY HEAVY box. In fact, the box began to tear already, and not sure what state would it be in if it was not coming from a warehouse nearby (delivered in one day). The set reviews on Amazon were consistent - everyone liked the clamps, but people complained about shipping, that box came basically in shreds and some ended up missing clamps.

Looks like Amazon actually read those reviews and changed its shipping practices. Frankly, as long as it is free, I don't mind getting multiple boxes. Free shipping rules. Just recently, I ordered a box of 4000 nails for my Bostitch (local BORGs do not carry plastic collated 21degree) and standard shipping was more than nails themselves - but thankfully, free shipping was available.
