A few weeks ago I started making a toy box for my grandson, Tavish (2 in December). I ordered plans for a diesel locomotive toy box from Miesel Hardware. When the plans arrived and I found 5 sheets I knew I was in for some fun.
This has been a VERY challenging project. My trusty BT3, Grizz G-505 and my router have all been given a real work out and I'm only about 1/2 way finished! I have never made so many bevel cuts on a single project in my life! Nor have I done a project with so high a parts count. There were 60 separate pieces required for the wheel/bumper assemblies. Also had a lot of circles to cut (jig required for the bandsaw and sanding center).
LOML has been charged with painting. After all, is a present from us. When she popped into the shop yesterday evening to check on the progress, she went back into the house muttering something about paint and a beach (at least it sounded something like beach
!.
This has actually been a fun project and I'll get pictures posted when the wood work is complete and again when LOML returns from the beach and it's painted. Since my grandson's room is done up as a tropical island, the Loco will called the COCONUT EXPRESS and the loco's number will Tavy's birthday.
So, if your looking for a challenge, this is the project for you!
