Book: Machinery's Handbook. takes longer to go through and absorb than the bible! LOL!

Audio: the audio book version of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

But alas, I'm another vote for non-flying. Non-public transportation of any sort actually. I can't stand being crammed into a seat designed for 5 footers. I'd last about 20 minutes before I'd be aching so bad I'd be lying down on the floor in the aisle. Haven't flown or been on a bus, train or ship since it was free, compliments of the CAF. Likely never will again. At least not if I'm conscious.

I would also take a Clancy Novel, or maybe something of Heinleins. My magazine would either be a crossword, fill it in or soduku. They fill the time and give you naps. Music would be maybe a Beach Boys greatest hits, Carpenters greatest hits, and maybe a Bethoven CD.

Book: I've got a thick Clancy novel - "The Bear and The Dragon", I think - that I've had for years and would love the opportunity to get into it uninterrupted.

CDs: Pink Floyd's 2-CD live "Pulse" - it has DSOTM on 1 disc, new and old stuff on the other; The Doors 2-CD live "In Concert" disc 1 ('The Celebration of the Lizard')

Magazine: The only one's I get are woodworking, so it'd have to be one with a fair amount of reading and a little above my skill level. Maybe Fine Woodworking?

P.S. Any Clancy fans out there should also check out Kyle Mills.

I just flew round trip to China a few weeks ago. In the time I wasn't sleeping or chatting, I was looking through the Lee Valley catalog.

Don't even have to imagine - Had a trip to Russia only a couple months ago. Total 11 hours in the air one way.

Did not bring any music, though if I did, it would be random 3 picks out of Rammstein: Rozenrot, Reise Reise, Mutter and :wumpscut: Mesner Tracks, Eevil Young Flesh, Wreath of Barbs.

Newspaper: allergic to them (physically, no kidding, newspaper ink makes me all sneezy and itchy)

            What I did bring:
            Magazine: latest Fine Homebuilding.

Book: (drumroll) International Residential Code 2006.

I try to steer clear of long, tedious trips, as it interferes with my favorite pasttime: Lying on a bean-bag chair, naked, eating Cheetos.

Only been in a plane once (Ford Triwing, Cuba's old air force one). SO not sure.

However, I was thinking some light reading, like WAR AND PEACE!

I have every JA Jance novel published. Several years ago my boat was torched and I made a comment to the reporter that I had fallen asleep reading her new book. The next day I got an invitation for lunch at the Dog House. What an experience

                          Stuff

I wouldn'r bring anything but a Robert Jordan or Terry Goodkind book. When I travel typically I'm on one of the company planes, and they have DVD players built in.

So I'd watch movies and get action items from my boss the whole time.

When all is said and done, corporate aviation is the way to go. Leather seats, 10 passengers, no security, higher and faster, you can leave early (or late), and when you get there they pull the rental car up to the plane and you're off. Citation X's rule there nothing like watching a commercial airliner crawling along while you're going Mach .92.

No newspaper or magazine, but probably either B.H.Liddle Harts' History of the 2nd World War or Montgomery's Battle at the Crossroads (Gettysburg) and any three CD's by Loreena McKennitt.

That should keep me for a few hours. After that, I'm pretty much a window gazer providing we're not just plowing through blue sky over the ocean.

                              Deadhead,

I have actually read "The Bear and the Dragon" twice. It is a great book! I ran across my copy the other day and I think I may read it again!

Thanks for the tip on Kyle Mills. I will check it out.
