    Son status report

The recruiter visited last night and we went over the details and answered our questions. Nathan has to report in Frankfort on the 25th and they'll fly him down to Fort Bennig (Georgia) where he'll do his basic training. He'll get 2 weeks leave around Christmas and we'll get to see him then. After that, he goes back to basic until about Jan 24th. He'll then have to report to his AIC Medic school in Fort Sam Houston (Texas) for 16 weeks before his gets assigned to a unit.

I want to thank everyone praying for him and the rest of our troops..

You should plan to visit him while he is at Ft Sam. Lots to see in the San Antonio area.

      Gary,

Be sure to tell your son to watch for "bait and switch."

In 1961, just before I was sworn in, I was told that I was ineligible for the agreed upon school. I had burned too many bridges, and I went anyway.

Three years ago, my son walked away from the induction center when the officer told him the recruiter was wrong and the promised assignment would not be available. Forewarned is forearmed.
