    Buying Bosch 1617EVSPKE from Amazon

I got the grudging grunt of approval on the purchase of a new router (woohoo!). I've been watching the Bosch 1617EVSPKE on Amazon for over a month. The kit has not been in stock that whole time. With the price at $231-$25 off promotion, I'd be willing to pull the trigger. The promo expires at the end of September.

So do I buy now and wait for it to come in to stock? Should I expect a long wait? Would the promo hold true while I'm waiting? Should I expect another promo to materialize, as happened last month?

Any advice from experienced Amazon watchers would be greatly appreciated.

It can generally be caught on sale w/ various codes of the day/week/month for around $150. It is a great kit!

I got a remanufactured one from www.toolking.com for like 170 or 180. It was most definately used, but still has a warranty on it...

Was it the 1617EVSPKE emphasizing the "E" on the end? It includes a lot of extras like quick snap in bushings, etc.

I've found the out of stock items generally ship a lot sooner than the estimates Amazon gives. I've had stuff that they'll estimate shipping in a month, then they show up in a week. (I've also had stuff that do take the full month.) If you're happy with the price, order it now, you can cancel it any time until the item comes in stock and they send your order to packaging if you find a better deal or decide you don't want to wait any longer.

That said, $206 is only an okay price. They've been available for $140-180 new in the past year. Also keep an eye on different versions of the kit as sometimes there is only a special one but not the other.

Yeah, I'm hung up on the 'E'. It looks like such a great package.

Ok. Great tool. Great package. I think I'll put the order in before the end of the -$25 offer. Actually, with a few bits I'd need I can probably go for the -$50 level @ $300 and not exceed budget.

As to being patient, I know it's recogized as a virtue, but I'm a weak man. I'll do my best.

I ordered the kit WAAAY back about a month ago- if not longer. I just recently canceled the order. Frankly, I'm not broke, but I do run a tight budget and I don't want to have to worry about when Amazon will decide to ship the darn thing and charge me the $200. I have more immeadiate needs. Maybe when it's back in stock I'll order it. But now I bought a used router at a pawn shop for $40 that I'll use until then- then use it as a second once I finally do get the Bosch....

No, I wasn't aware of that prouct. It sounds like a nice product for the little premium over the top of the EVSPK model.

In regards to bits, check out the Whiteside bit set from www.holbren.com . Whiteside is a highly regarded bit manufacturer.
