Just another update. I have mythtv installed on fedora core 5 now. I had everything up, and no video. just a black screen. after a bit, it went back to the mythfrontend app.

I found that I had selected the wrong capture card settings, updated, and I now can watch tv on my pc. It is choppy, and no audio. Ugh, so back to more trouble shooting tonight.

My capture card sends audio to the input on my onboard audio. Then the onbaord audio sends to the LCD tv. I think the choppiness to the video has to do with my settings on resolution for the card. It records but is still choppy.

The audio does work. I tested it through the sound settings utility and heard the sample sound clip.

I'll get to play with this more while watching Game 2 of Tigers vs Yanks tonight.
