    Bionic arms

Given the general interest in technology common on this forum (not to mention the frequent hair-raising discussions of shop accidents), I thought you might be interested in my brother-in-law Todd Kuiken's latest invention for use by amputees: mind-controlled artificial arms.

See the CNN article and clips at http://tinyurl.com/pmdud

He's always been interested in engineering, and probably got interested in medicine because of his many youthful trips to the doctor for emergency care after such accidents as being hit by a truck while riding his bike. Put genius, knowledge (MD+PhD in biomedical engineering), motivation, similar colleagues, and 20 years together and it's amazing what you can come up with! We're incredibly proud of him.

Why, thank you! I appreciate it.

      David,

I read that article and it is really cool. It really is amazing what is being done now in the field of robotics.

Todd is a woodworker as well as a biomedical engineer and clinician. He designed and built his own bedroom set a couple years ago, as well as doing extensive remodeling on the past 3 homes he's owned. A very capable guy!
