    Gps

I am looking at the Garmin StreetPilot line of GPS units.
Is it possible to preload your destination(s) via USB from PC?
Do the units have a memory for storing frequent addresses ie can I be on the road and have my home address programmed into the unit as a stored location, hit a button and get directions? Or would I have to go through looking it up every time?

    Thanks
    Jeff

Absolutely. I've been able to do this when I took a trip from Houston to Charleston SC last summer. I have the 2610 StreetPilot. I bought a 1 GB compactflash and loaded the entire eastern half of the US into the card. Entering my sister's address in Charleston, I was able to go all the way without asking directions. You can also setup a waypoint, so when I was in Charleston, I would use that as home and always ask to go home when I as done for the day. Also, it's sort of out of date on the restaurants and such, but no prob. We hit some Shoney's inthe middle of the night in Alabama on the way. Have you gone to the Garmin website? Download their manual and look into it. I hear the newer ones are a bit more friendly, but the 2610 is great. Also, look into getting the external antenna magnetic mount for longer range. This also helped me last year during the mad dash out of Houston during Hurricane Rita. I was able to shave off 5 hours on I-10 west to San Antonio. I had a long breakfast the next day waiting for my friend to show up.

Thats a great idea. I'll download the manuals.
Glad to hear it will do what I want it to do.
Incredible technology for next to nothing!

I happen to have the Tom Tom GPS unit and software. It runs on my Treo 650 phone. I can map to my contacts addresses or put the in my favorite locations.
