Tragic chipper accident

I couldn't believe it when I read this in the paper this morning. Made me think of the movie Fargo. The man's wife is pregnant, to boot.

A lady I met at a garage sale owns a yard maintainance company. She said that the insurance goes up $700.00 a day when the rotary chipper is in use. They have only one employee who is allowed to operate it. He works slow and careful. Everything is limbed and brush is trucked away, not bundled into the chipper.

Man! That isn't a DIY backyard 'chipper'. Made to take 15" dia. logs, and he stuck his foot in it!!??
There's a mulch yard nearby with a chipper for up to 42" dia logs, and has a 1000 hp engine. Only the big dozer that loads logs is allowed within 100'. It's amazing to watch a huge log with stump and root ball go in and be gone in seconds.

This is all too gruesome, I don't even want to imagine this scene! All it takes is a split second of stupidity to change or end your life.

I don't like chippers of any kind, and don't have a particularly safe feeling with chainsaws either. Seen too many accidents. Years ago a good friend's father lost an arm to a chipper, when a branch caught his jacket sleeve. Some tools are just too nasty to approach, IMO.

let's blame the lawyers!

Somehow a durty lawyer has to be involved. I mean, they've just gotta be at fault somehow. Let's see, because of lawyers the company put in a safety bar due to all the frivolous lawsuits. I mean every dumb Jethro knows not to stick their foot in a chipper, but since the laywers got involved the mfr. put in a safety bar, which lead this Jethro to feel safe putting his foot in the proverbial ****. But then the safety bar didn't work. Probably cuz some lawyer had sued the safety bar sub-supplier over something and made them use inferior euqipment. Thus, the safety bar didn't work and this poor Jethro lost his life due to laywers. **** laywers!

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Watch 20 seconds go by on the clock. That was a long time for that guy. Thoughts for his family and his friends who had to watch.
