    Woodstove working temps?

I did some checking into Rust Bullet. From the company rep it will withstand 314 degrees F working temp and 700 degrees for periods not to exceed 24hrs. I wanted to put it on the outside of a woodstove - the fireplace insert type. How hot does the outside of a woodstove get?

There is a paint made for gas grills. I have used it before I got my Weber. It held up untill I got rid of it . That withstood 600* deg. Don't know if it comes in other than black. Its comes in a rattle can.

I've used Rustoleum High Heat spray cans on grills and radiators. It's good to 1200F.

I have some high heat paint already. The problem is there is much rust on the stove. Wanted to seal that with Rust bullet then paint. Much easier and cleaner than getting the rust off. So the question is whether the Rust Bullet will take the heat. I do not think it will but wanted to confirm.

I have a small, cast iron woodburning stove, and keep a surface thermometer on the top surface, at the base of the exhaust stack. The temperature reading ranges from 300 F to 700 F or more, though I try not to go much over 700. This is a free-standing stove in the corner of the room, and not inside any enclosure.

          Regards,
          Tom

Thanks Tom, that is what I figured. this is a bigger stove that will be inserted in a fireplace so it will most likely get too hot.
