    I'm Back!! with WoodworkstuffByJoe.net

    Well I did it!

My NEW Domain Name is http://www.woodworkstuffbyjoe.net

Don't have a Counter or Search... will take some time...

    I went with GoDaddy.com.

Started out OK... I asked questions & got answers... Some very wrong answers!

I asked if they had hit counter routine(s) that could be inserted into my page... "Oh yes! Sure do!"

I get to the point to want it... look for it... can't find it... call them (NOT toll free)... (bottom line after some discussion) "NO, WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT." "Who told you that we did?" I couldn't even remember HIS name, let alone the guy from yesterday!
Needless to say, same answer with a Search...

So, the only way I can insert those features, search, etc. to get Coded routines, etc., copy them to my site & then use them!! Quite a bit different than just copy/pasting coding into a page & using it!

If I had known that, I think I would have looked for another company!
Too much trouble to change now...

Typical Sales Crap... you talk to a Salesperson, they will tell you ANYTHING to make a Sale... then you find out, after the fact, that they were lieing through their teeth!

Anyway, we're back... Enjoy & check it out...
Would appreciate any feedback you might have to make it better, etc.

    Thank you!
    Have Fun!

    My suggestions

    DNS: namecheap.com
    Hosting: modhost.com or madrooster.com

I've stopped dealing with godaddy because of their business practice like you've ran into.

NOTE: unless you can log into your account on PublicDomainRegistry.com and turn off the registar lock, you're gonna have to wait for the domain to expire next august, unless you get ahold of a lawyer to threaten them.

        Joe -

My initial reaction to your post was this looks like self-promotion - ****, I need to stop being such a cynic. After a quick check (that took over an hour) I want to say a huge THANK YOU!
        • I am very impressed by your shop.
        • I really appreciate your detailed comments and explanations and detail pics of each subject
        • And I must admit I am quite surprised to see that you give space in your small shop to an array of spectacular antique tools that must be used very, very infrequently

I've bookmarked your site and will return often. Thank you again!

            Hi Doug,

This started out ONLY as a problem with a Regsitrar & Hosting company... it was never intended to 'promote' anything.

My Page is "A Collection of Helpful Woodworking Goodies!" mostly from other people's experiences, etc. If you read "About This Site" you will get a better idea.

Most people like it a lot... BUT, it's NOT MY Shop... MY projects, etc... just a collection of goodies (notes) to help 'educate' ME (now you).
            Have Fun!

              Hi Joe,

Glad to see you got your site back up and running - sounded like it was quite a frustrating experience. Hope things run smoothly for you. I really like your site too!

You're not going to believe this...

... as I was testing an update to the "About This Site" page on my new site, I clicked the url to the OLD site to make sure the link worked... LOW & behold, there it was in living color... Working again!!
I went over to GoDaddy and tried Transferring the Domain Name while I possibly had a chance... it worked this time!! The old Registrar must approve the transfer... then it will be mine again!

The thing is, I guess I now have two domains & two sites... only need one... probably can't change, etc. (??) will have to ask, I guess.

                  Have Fun!

                    F L A S H !!

I have just received my first communication (email) from Spiderhosts.com, in several months, acknowledging the "request for transfer" giving me a chance to cancel it! (heaven forbid!)... If not cancelled by next Fri., it will be transferred!! (hooray!!)

I will continue to "believe it, when I see it!"...
