What About A Project Of The Month Award?

Was thinking it might be fun to have a "Project of the Month" award or "Project of the Period" award. It could be set up that once entered, progress pictures have to be posted so that we all know you didn't spoof us. The membership could vote and it could be any period, 30, 60 days whatever. I would exempt myself from this heated competition. I think it might be inspirational for having fun and doing projects. Criteria could be set up to meet a general standard. The winner for each period would be able to lavish him/herself in the glory of the oohs and ahhs. I'm not familiar with the 2x6 challenge, but the posting of the progress could be very interesting. What do you all think? Has this been done? Any ideas?

I think it is a great idea. Anything to inspire people. However, I don't think anyone should be excluded or exempted. Perhaps limit recent past winners to honorable mention or something.

Something I tried on another forum was a specified small project with a fair amount of time for a dead line. For example I suggested a toothbrush holder and three weeks to finish it in. Just another thought. But I like the straight up project of the month award. Grand idea.

I'll start working on my most creative pattern of dust and shavings. Hmm, a topo map of the Rockies.

Wouldn't progress pictures be the incentive for a timely project. Remember - no spoofing. It could appear in the "Finished Projects" section with topic something like "POM" (Project Of The Month) and then the screen name, and then the project item. Starting this new, gets those interested in doing a project, and doing it by the rules. Sounds cool to me.
