memories
One of my earliest memories was when I was about 3 and went to the grocery store with my grandmother. I saw a drinking fountain and took off for it. Next thing I was being jerked backward by my grandmother. She pointed to a sign I couldn’t read yet and that’s the “colored” drinking fountain.
I remember helping my Dad repair TVs. I thought I was big stuff when he let me ride my bike to the neighborhood grocery and test various vacuum tubes on the store’s tester.
In 1974 I was taking an AC electronics class at a community college. Out of the 20 something people in the class, I was the only one using a slide rule. I didn’t have the $400 for a 4 function TI calculator.
My first PC was the H8 from Heathkit. Had an 8008 processor, 8K of ram ($300 per 4k board), audio cassette tape “mass” storage, and a monochrome keyboard/keyboard combo. It played a mean game of hangman.
