Save a $1000 and buy an old Jeep off ebay. And by Jeep I mean Gladiator Pickup, Grand Wagoner, or Pre 83 Cherokee. Real trucks. I got mine for $600 and drive it nearly every day.
It's official I'm old

I have to admit I fell in love with mini-vans in my twenties when I borrowed my parents Windstar. I had no car at the time, and had to get to a friends bachelor party on the other side of the state. While I wasn't the hit of the party (that would have been gal named Ambrosia), I was popular because I had the only vehicle that could carry the whole group to the bar.
Going backpacking or camping with 3 friends? You can't beat the storage and passenger room.
Fast forward 10 years. I bought my wife a Toyota Sienna AWD for Christmas. With two kids and a big dog, it's a dream. AND, (I love this part), it takes less than 10 minutes to fold down the rear seats, and remove the middle seats. Why would I do that? Because I can then fit full sheets of plywood and 8' lumber in it and close the rear hatch (can you do that with most SUV's?). Even with my Dakota, I have to leave some hanging out the back to get wet & dirty on the drive home.

I dunno, Pathfinder for a MiniVan doesn't sound like a major life change. I believe both are on the soccer-mom-approved list.
They'll get my pickup when they wrap my cold, dead fingers from around the steering wheel.Comment

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. The kids are now gone, the baby just started boot camp!! My wife was talking about getting a two seater!! I can now leave a dollar on the kitchen bar and know it will be there 10 minutes later, heck it can be 10 days later!!!

It is if the pathfinder is your car. Pre marriage and kids. And you got it instead of a pickup because it was better at hauling windsurfing gear and buddies around.Originally posted by BrazosJakeI dunno, Pathfinder for a MiniVan doesn't sound like a major life change.David
