    A Sweet Car

I knew the owner of our shop was a car nut. This afternoon he showed up in his pride and joy. A beautiful powder blue 1950 Ford. Completely restored and all stock, including the original flathead.
The bummer was that I didn't have my camera with me.
I went through high school with a 49 and it sure brought back memories.

I bet it brought back memories. My first car was a 1951 Ford. I remember paying a $1.00 down payment.

My first car was a '53 Flat Head Mercury, with rolled and pleated interior and lowered 5". It cast me $75.00 and in 1963, that was expensive. Gulf gas (an less than popular brand in NY was $.25 a gal.

But then, if you made $20,000 a year you were really rich.

          WHAT HAPPENED???

My first was a '40 Plymouth sedan. Suicide doors, running boards and all.

(Oh, and a back seat so big you almost needed a map to find your way out.)

Wish I still had that car...

My first car was a '50 Studebaker. A 4-door with the "suicide" rear doors. It didn't get much attention from the girls till winter came. It seems that the combination of the "molehair" seat covers (stock) and the fact that studebaker put the heater radiator under the front seat, with a diverter duct to direct air front and rear, made me real popular wihen it came time to leave the away-from-home games and it was 35 degrees and raining out.
The guys with the rolled and pleated "plastic" seat covers drove home alone!
