After driving Ford trucks for the last 34 years I bought a Toyota this time. My wife, daughters and sil's are convinced I will like it better but somehow I feel like a traitor. After spending Thurs afternoon with Ford and Friday afternoon with Toyota, Toyota made me a deal I couldn't walk away from. Anyway I will have to stay away from the bargain alerts for awhile.

I used to by all American...
...but I am a Honda guy now--absolutely love both of our Honda's and will likely continue to buy Honda or Toyota from now on. One day I hope to have another pickup, and despite my previous statement, I will find it hard to buy a foreign pickup. The Honda Ridgeline's are ugly, but that is one nice looking Toyota you have there. Congrats!JoeComment

Couple of my friends have Tundras and they love them. I was possibly considering a Tacoma sometime next year.

Nice lookin' truck!
I was trying to wheel and deal between a Ford and a Toyota and the Toyota dealers around here were not budging on price. I wanted the Toyota but Ford dealer made me a fantastic deal for about $5000 less than a comparably equipped Toyota. That can be a common market problem due to import manfacturer allocation that domestic are not subject to. Glad you got your new ride!Scott

If you are looking for a vehicle that has more american made and american installed parts than any other on the market, then Toyota is what you want to buy. The Toyota philosophy is "Make the vehicle and parts in the country you sell it in..." Too bad Ford, GM, and Chrysler don't believe in that idea.
I have owned more Fords (cars and trucks) than any other brand in my 50 years of vehicle ownership, but have NEVER owned a Ford that didn't have to spend time in the shop for warranty work.
I've had a couple GM vehicles that never needed any kind of warrenty work, but have never owned a Japanese car or truck that needed ANY warranty work. (I've owned a Subaru, Toyota and a Honda)
I currently own a 2001 Ford 3/4 ton diesel P/U that had the rear-end go out at 40,000 miles ($1,100 and both front hubs (4WD) ($1,240 plus towing costs) at 44,000 miles.
Ford refuses to even talk to me about the problems because I bought the truck from the estate of a friend. It was a year old and had 9,000 miles on it. I thought: "What could go wrong?" I found out: Plenty can go wrong!"Aspire to inspire before you expire."

Man! that is one nice looking truck. Congrats. I Can't say as I blame you for giving up Ford though I did too again like you after many many years of nothing but Fords. I'll never go back. Enjoy!May you die and go to heaven before the Devil knows you're dead. My Best, MacComment

Be careful of the Tacos, especially if you are considering any sort of rack that mounts to the bed. My understanding is that with the new body style, the inside of the bed is no longer metal but some sort of plastic material that looks like a bedliner, but is the actual bed. This posting on a Nissan board that I frequent goes into a little more detail: http://p085.ezboard.com/ftunfsfrm9.s...cID=3358.topicOriginally posted by poolhoundCouple of my friends have Tundras and they love them. Mater, BTW, I like the truck. I have a 2000 CC Nissan Frontier, and other than my truck being a little more nimble, I do envy you guys with the full size crew cabs. Fortunately, the kids are small for their age (7 and 4), so my CC will last me for a while...it'll have to, I can't afford another one!"It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."- Norm (from Cheers)

Congrats on the new truck! I've always liked Toyotas and the cars I've had have been superb. Sales have been slow at my dealership. I sold 4 my first week or so and then had a dry spell for 3 weeks
This past week I've had write ups everyday but neither myself or my sales managers can close them, or their credit is so bad they couldn't buy a stick of gum

I hear you, Ken. I've got an old '94 Nissan 4-banger pickup, and all it does is sit 'till I need it, and then work like heck doing whatever I need. I'm gonna keep it 'till the doors fall off (although I suspect that MY doors will fall off before this old truck calls it quits)....eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!Comment

As someone who buys a truck for what a truck is supposed to be used for, I'll stick to the Rams (my current 36 year old Jeep being the exception).
I went to a To dealer a long while back and talked to them about the T100. Dealer could only give me one reason why His truck cost $4k more than a GMC with a v-8. It's a Toyota. And that was the major piece of crap Toy tried to sell. I've heard that the Tundra is much better, but it still can't carry the loads I need it to be able to. Once Honda, Toyota, and Nissan come out with 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, maybe I'll look their way again. Until then, I'll keep my eye on a Cummins Ram.
Sorry to say, but I have already seen my Jeep sit side by side with an older Tundra under the same load (pallet of pavers weighing about 2400lbs). With bad shocks I was still sitting higher and pulled away with no problems. The Tundra's v-8 sounded labored. Granted my Jeep is a 3/4 ton.
Nice looking Toy though, The looks have deffinitely improved over the years.Mike
