    wish me luck

    just signed up for Vonage.

They don't have an area code in WV so I now "live" in California.

Did you have a bad experience kmk? I've had Vonage for over a year with only very minor problems a couple of times with only an average speed cable internet

RW- remember to activate the 911 in case you should ever need it.

I tried vonage earlier. Did not have a problem with vonage but had a problem with Comcast - not reliable enough to replace a telephone line.

I signed up for SunRocket the other day. I'm expecting the adapter to show up Monday or Tuesday. I'm on a local cable provider. I'm hoping that it will be stable enough for a good telephone experience but with a price of $199 for 15 months of unlimited calls in the US and Canada I'm sure I can deal with some dropped calls and/or down time. I always have my cellphone as a backup.

I don't mind hearing it, but keep it to yourself if it stinks.

I picked up SunRocket a few months back but haven't used it enough to form an opinion. At least my cable company here in FL gives me 384K up where I only had 128K in NJ. Vonage says you need 90K for best voice quality and I had it in the middle up in NJ.

We have Adelphia Cable Internet, so speed shouldn't be a problem. We only have occasional outages which is about the same for phone line anyway.

We do have to get a new answering system, but that's it.

I hope you have good luck with it Mike. I almost changed to it until one of my daughters did. She has a problem with dropped calls. It doesn't happen everytime but it would be annoying to me.

I have Time Warner cable, and went with their Voip phone service and have been very happy. Cant tell any difference from my old verizon phone service. Nice bonus though is I now get the caller ID to pop up in the right corner of the TV screen, so I can decide if I need to pause live TV. Aint technology wonderful.

Well, SOWMBO has said Vonage is out the door. She decided that she wants to keep our phone number. So I'll be packing it up and sending it back this weekend. Ordered Sun Rocket today, since they say we can tranfer our number. (crosses fingers)

we kept our same numner with Vonage...Took about 2 weeks to transfer though....If anyone else plans to get it Id be happy to refer a friend and get us both a month freee..

I have Cox. 5 megs down 2 megs up..I can upgrade my downloads to 15 for another $10 but havent seen the need yet...
Only had vonage a couple weeks but have zero complaints.love all the features...and its about 75% cheaper.....
YOU DONT HAVE TO TRAIN TO BE MISERABLE. YOU HAVE TO TRAIN TO ENDURE MISERY.

Yeah, But Vonage doesn't offer a 304 area code yet, so we can't transfer our number with them. And LOML put her foot down. Too much hassle to let everyone know the new number if we don't have to.

I'm doing the monthly Sunrocket rate which is the same as Vonage ($24.95) and appearently there is no contract and no termination fee if I need to for any reason.
