      The scary thing is, this happens frequently enough that "America's Funniest Home Videos" was able to do an entire music montage with trees falling on vehicles.

      One guy even had his truck several hundred feet away and the log managed to cartwheel down the hill and crush it.

                      I learned my chainsawing and tree felling techniques from an old logger. He really pounded into my head that they don't always fall the way you intend. Sometimes they even explode on you if they're eaten up inside. I've seen some gnarly old trees jump up off the stump before you even drive the wedge, do a little pirouette, and then blow out in all directions. The guy in the picture learned a lesson, a rather expensive lesson.
