    Any Mac Experts out there?

I just hired on as a SysAdmin for a shop that uses Mac's. I just transferred a user from a G4 Power Mac to an iMac. I used a firewire connection to transfer all the user's stuff from the G4 to the iMac.

Now that it's done, the iMac is missing a couple of icons in Entourage. Functions are still there, but the icons aren't visible. Weird.

Any advice more than appreciated as I've been a PC guy and this is new to me. Thanks in Advance.--Den

I'm not an expert by any means but a couple of first steps would be to just restart the computer. That usually takes care of strange issues like that. Another is to open an application called Disk Utility (in the Utilities subfolder of the Applications folder). When the program is open, highlight the hard drive on the left side of the window and click on the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. This might take a while, but usually solves another set of issues that creep up. If I think of something else, I'll let you know.

Addition - some helpful tips for people new to the mac can be found at MacOSXHints or the Apple Support Forums

Thanks. I failed to mention that I tried a reboot, moved off the prefs, cleared the cache, and repaired the permissions. My fault for being vague. I really appreciate the reply.--Den

Looks like you got off to a good start. Can you find the files by searching using Spotlight (in 10.4) or Find (Cmd-F)? I remember a couple of instances where files wouldn't show up, but it I searched for them and then had the system reveal the file in the Finder it would magically show up.

          I'd recommend just reinstalling Entourage.

            Well, here was the fix:

After I ran the software updates, I checked the updates again later and there were new updates. I ran those and it fixed everything.
