    No American hockey fans??

Just wondering if anybody down there is watching hockey.
I know it's not as big of a deal, but this playoff season has been awesome.
Western final is down to the 6th and 8th seeds. WOW!!

There must be someone in SoCal, NY or NC that cares.

No, and even in Red Wing country, I haven't heard anyone really talking about it all season. Not even a complaint with their disappointing exit from the playoffs (again).

I am in NC about 40 minutes from the 'Canes home ice. I care, in a vague, gotta check on whether the Hurricanes won kinda way. After the last playoffs, hockey might have had me as a fan, esp with the new rules changes that loosened the game up. Unfortunately the owners and players got stupid and lost a year. I found other things to fill my time.

Not anymore. I used to watch 120 + games a season and went to 10-15. I quit about 3-4 years ago fed up with the officating. They admit to not following the rules. I don't want to watch water skiing on ice. I know they started cracking down, but I don't have any interest anymore. You have to pay big time to get a package with OLN in most parts of the US to even watch the games.

          Hockey--what's that??

Oh yeah, I think the Badgers did really well last winter. What do I know--we didn't have hockey down South when I was growing up. We didn't have ice either. Now we have teams down there--but not so many up here.

          ???

I gave up NHL hockey years ago. No finesse, too much fighting.

I was in Ottawa a couple of weeks ago, though, and got a dose 24-hour hockey the Canadian way. It was refreshing to see the "new" NHL. Much more wide open. I still don't understand why fighters are not ejected. I heard the logic on local sports talk radio, but sum it up as follows: fighting is good because fighting is good.

And in SoCal it's only the Canadian expats who care, really. Everybody else is busy doing something that is not watching sports. We haven't had an NFL team in years and are in no danger of getting one soon. Who needs to watch this stuff when you can be out surfing, biking, golfing, boating, hiking, or whatever. It's kind of hard to get into tv sports when it's 70F/20C every day.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's soccer played on ice. Can't be sure though. I know nothing about either.

I think I played it once. Acted real sick and didn't have to go to school that day.

Wait a minute, you said HOCKEY. I thought you said hookey. Seriously though, I don't know of anyone 'round here that is that into it. Then again, I'm in football (American) and Nascar country. Heck, we hardly even watch baseball or basketball.

I've lost interest as I've gotten older and stopped playing. I was a goalie before masks, got the ugly face to prove it. The games changed too much for me what with teams in southern Cal., Fla. and other places. Plus, every time I watch a game I want to get back on the ice and I'm too old. Take too long to heal. So, pay attention when they're playing for the "Cup" and watch international competition when it's on. But, that's about it. Oh, I do follow Scotty's career during the regular season since he's a local kid but, by and large the game has passed me by.

I have to agree with you on this...not a fan of the Sabres. They beat the Senators.
                      See you in the finals.

Glad to see you didn't follow the party line when you lived in T.O.

The only thing dumber than hockey is curling, and that comes from a Canadian who is sick to death of both! I was GLAD when hockey was off the air.

                          no hockey no movey

One of my wife's stipulations for our move from Ontario to Minnesota was that we absolutely had to receive CBC and Hockey Night in Canada or she wasn't going. Well, we moved, and we're watching. I'm looking forward to Edmonton v Buffalo in the Cup finals.

You're just sore because the Jets, er Coyotes, er Jets...didn't make the playoffs.
Oh wait aminute, they aren't in the Peg anymore...

Seriously I was extremly saddened when the new rink fell through and they moved. Sad thing is they would probably be able to make a go of it in the small market now. Only took ten years to figure out what was wrong with the league.
