Also a good point about "hating" him. But then, as i said, he's a Giant, so I take nothing back!

As a Giants fan, and assuming you're a 2nd inning come, 7th inning go Dodger Bum, I would have no respect for you if you didn't have something against a Giant!
Hold on, now that the orange and black are playing in The Big Telephone, half the fans come in the 2nd, leave in the 7th...must be SoCal transplants...

Well he hit #714 now if he would just hit 715 then we will not have hear any more unless he get near Aarons record. Sorry Babe, roids are better that beer and hotdogs.
To insert something here: I haven't felt good about baseball since they removed Sparky Anderson as Cincinnati manager years ago. He had a winning record, but was still removed to make room for WHOM???
That's my point.
Not to mention the fact, as we were discussing just yesterday-There is no one worth the kind of salary money generated by professional organized sports. As an example: Why is $16 million dollars per year required to operate a Nascar team? And 100 million for a Formula 1 team!
It's all about the advertisers dollars and the desire to win at all costs. Like they say, no one remembers who finishes second.
(Oh, BTW-I am a big Nascar fan.)

Nobody has said anything yet about Pete Rose and the Hall. He didn't do anything during his playing years which is what he should be considered for entry into the Hall. He's a jerk, for so sure, and never would admit to his gambling but as others have posted, the Hall is littered with guys who played in an era where the press turned a blind eye to their particular peccadilloes. If it's true that Bonds did use 'roids during his career, that behavoir had a direct impact on the game. You may not like what Rose did off the field but he deserves to be in the Hall for what he did between the lines within the rules of the game.

Sorry Howard, I can't go there with you. The Hall of Fame is about character, not just numbers, and Pete Rose, despite his impressive stats, and bulldog attitude, eventually got the feeling that he was bigger than the game itself, and smarter than everybody else. This besmirches the ethics on which the Hall is based, and the line has to be drawn somewhere. If exceptions are made to the rules which Pete Rose knowingly broke, and then lied about, just because of his prodigious numbers, the damage would be too great, and the rules would not mean anything. At issue is whether the game itself is more important than the recognition of a single player, and Pete Rose himself taught us what the WRONG answer is. I'm sure that others with less than honorable motives have gotten in, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Pete deserves what he got. Still a shame...
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!
If character really entered into it, then Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and whole lotta others would have to come out. It should be about the game and how it was played, not what they do off the field unless it directly impacts the game when they were playing, ie. Bonds. As I said before, the nature of the reporting has changed dramatically. Players could and would go carousing, drinking, brawling and the press would wink at them and not a thing would ever be said. Not today. They can't even break wind in the dougout without someone writing about it...

Howard, look, Ruth and Cobb were jerks. But they didn't soil the game, they MADE it. They did not bet on games where they could have an impact on the outcome, and then deny it once the evidence became public. Pete Rose is a proven cheater and a liar. That's a lot different than being a jerk. There's no point in having any rules at all if lifetime batting average or some other number can be used to figure out who is allowed to break them. I have no quarrel with what Rose did on the field, but he couldn't just keep it at that. The Hall of Fame is a place of honor. If there is ever a Hall of Infamy, then I'll hang Pete's plaque on the door myself.

some steroids don't even have to produce testosterone, only to look like it to get the desired results and be undetectable if you know where im going with this
Do you think the Babe would not have used whatever he could to stay on top? He also used whatever he could to party off the field! Barry Bonds, Pete Rose. There are so many great ballplayers to remember, why dwell on any of them.
