    Being stupid but getting lucky.

My dad helped me put the roof on the playhouse today. It is an A frame and is heavy enough that we couldn't just lift it up there. We used a come along to pull it up some temp. 2x6 ramps on one of the flat sides. After we got it up there we had to roll it over so the peak was up.

When it came over I underestimated the weight. Shoulda used a long brace to the ground and walked it down. My arm hurt like an SOB and then was numb to touch for a while. I thought it might be busted. Ended up with what I'm pretty sure is a sprained thumb and a nasty knot on my forearm, but no break.

Oh I knew how much it weighed. I was too lazy/impatient/whatever to climb down and get a brace for it.

Yup. And a poor choice of words. How about "I was not properly braced to catch the weight"?
