    Gift in the Mail!

Well I had the nicest surprise when I came home today in the mail. It was from our friend Steve (AKA SCMHOGG). It is a beautiful Quarter sawn Oak and Cocobolo trimmed leather strop! I am not sure I deserve such a kind gift but I am keeping it! It could not have come at a better time what with the new carving chisels and planes I am having to sharpen now. I have honed the edges of the new carving chisels so now I am going to go play with the strop! Right now all I have is some powder I bought for this task but I also understand they make a paste as well. Guess I need to do some research to see which is best for my purposes. I have to tell you though; this thing is gorgeous and will have a place of honor in my shop and I can’t thank Steve enough for thinking about me.

Wow! Thoughtful! It looks sharp just sittin there.
If it don't work sharpening things, it's certainly well shape as a disiplainary stick or a hind quarter personality corrector.

That is something to be proud of.
The only thing I know about strops is that when I was a kid my grandfathers razor strop was a deterant from being a bad boy.
