    Fun Day

Thunder storms with a threat of hail and high winds last night. The boys were out battening down the hatches and covering the car widshields with quilts when it hit. They decided to throw the clothes they were wearing in the washer and no water! The wife called city maintenance I was in bed by this time). What he found was a meter going balistic so the problem was on my side.

A few years ago I replaced the lline from the meter to the house. 1" PVC to a 'T' by the slab. One side feeds an outside faucet, the other is the house supply line. Both sides of the 'T' end with a compression fitting to adapt to the copper lines. The one to the house had come out and was pumping water to the ground. Blew the dirt up and left a nice hole so it was easy to find. Actually the wife found the hole last night and I was guessing that it was the fitting.

Went in to work this morning and got my route ready to deliver. Supervisor split it among 4 carriers and I headed home. Spent the mext 5 hours digging out a 2' deep hole to work the repairs in, chasing down the supplies I needed, repairing the break, and filling in the hole. I extended the PVC to an elbow and brought it just above ground level. Added the transition to the copper pipe with a new type fitting and all is well again.

Did manage to squeeze in a little shop time late this evening. I had one more face frame to make for the bathroom cabinets I have been working on. I got it glued up and will put it on the cabinet after work tomorrow. Stll have 4 doors to make before I can spray and install them. Hopefully I will get that done Sunday.

    hi pappy,

that does sound like a full day for sure. i'm amazed that after fixing that water line problem that you still found the time to work in your shop - that's great!

Bummer! But at least you didn't have to pay a plumber to fix it. Seems there is always something going on when you own a house...

I'm sure you've noticed, Pappy, that no matter what kind of a day you've had, it all goes by the wayside once you get in the shop. Very theraputic, to be sure... It'll turn and into , and sometimes into .
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!
