    Freya naked!!!!!!

Ha, made you look! Well, the Freya is complete except for canopy painting and application of the graphics. Weather permitting, flight testing should begin sometime this week or next weekend. I want my instructor to take a look, do a pre-flight inspection and check my radio programming.
For the R/C fans out there, here are some specs:
Helo - Hirobo SST Eagle Freya
Engine - OS70 with Hatori muffler
    Radio - Futaba 9CHP-Super
    Servos- Futaba 9252 digitals
Gyro - Futaba Gy-401 w/9254 high speed servo controling the tail
Governor- Futaba GV-1 (first time using one of thses)
Main blades - SAB 690mm FAI style
    tail blades - SAB 95mm

In the close up picture of the nose, the small square on top of the frames about in the center is the gyro. Just below and forward of the gyro is the governor.

Hopefully, in about a week I'll be able to post a picture of the Freya "dressed" and sitting next the Evo. Who knows, I might even get a picture of them in the air!

Only one creature looks better naked! This one shows too much muscle, neurons and exoskeleton.

You do have a lot of patience. But show us picts of the final product before you fly it!

I knew what you were talking about. You've been babying that thing long enough, it's about time to get some flight time. Is it about as much fun to build 'em as fly 'em?

Good luck with her. Remember: the big rotor wing is up and skids are down.

Have hours and hours of fun!

Have you ever seen a GOOD pilot hover inverted inches off the ground, Warren??? By the way, I'm not that good and will try to keep your advice firmly in mind! I won't say building is as much fun as flying, but it is fun. At least until you get to the point of making/installing push rods! That is "fussy work" x 2! The most fun is seeing a bunch or parts you assembled take off for the first time; that's cool!

When I was an aircrewman, inverted was the last attitude the pilot wanted. Now I see a lot of our rotor wings are stressed so they can fly inverted and take a lot of G's for evasion and terrain flying. And, it wasn't that long ago I (well . . . okay, maybe it was a long time ago) being inverted meant that something was terribly wrong or the pilot was terribly drunk or scared.

Will there be pictures when you fly that sucker? I'm looking forward to them if it's possible. Last time I flew a model, it was U-control, (R/C was just getting started) cost me about thirty bucks and took a couple of days to put together.

Two, two and half laps and it was back to the table to rebuild it. Your heli is a whole different ball game. I really am impressed!!! Lotta of skill and loving attention to detail.

I hope to get some pictures of it in the air when we do the test flights. The only pictures I have of me flying the Evo are the first flights with the training gear hanging under it. Hope to change that this week.
I hope to have the canopy painted before next weekend so the next pictures should be of the Freya "dressed".

If you want to see some video clips of extreme 3d flying,
go to www.runryder.com and go the "pictures/video" forum or the RunRyder TV link. They also have pics of awesome scale birds, some turbine (yes, honest-to-God jet engines)powered. Modeling has sure come a long way from the old Ring Master & Nobler C/L birds.

The attached picture is of the Freya's little sister, my Sceadu Evo. This was the first time it was in the air. My instructor, John Kelly, was flying/testing/trimming her out before I took the controls. One 10 minute flight and I was exhausted mentally. I've never concentrated so hard on anything in my life, but what a rush when I set it back down in one piece!!!
