    Its not Good News

Well as a lot of you have read in here in the last couple of weeks I had fallen a couple of weeks ago and fractured my ankle. Well went to the doctor yesterday and he looked at the CT Scan and the x-rays that they took again yesterday.

I now have to have surgery to fix a displaced fracture. The bones of the ankle have shifted so they are seperating and look pretty nasty on the x-ray I saw. So they are going to have put a pin in it to make sure that it heals correctly. I am waiting to hear about an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and then should know more when I have that appointment on when the surgery will be. I was not happy about having this happen but I have to have it so that in the long run I can get back to work.

Thanks everyone for your notes of support. It really helps.

Prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Perhaps best to deal with it now rather than having it worsen later.

I had that same surgery a few years ago, along with a repair of the deltoid ligament on the inside of the foot. Cast and crutches for a few weeks, and then removal of a screw that kept the ankle in one place. After that, no problems whatsoever. That ankle is a little thicker than the other, but is fully strong and flexible, and pain-free. I'm on the mat in martial arts regularly, and if there were any limitations from the surgery, I would have found them by now. Don't worry.

                Hey Mrs. "W"
After many surgeries of the hip and femur by both my wife and MIL, I can surely sympathize with you. Take good care, and do what the folks in the lab coats say, and you will be better in no time. Here's wishing you the best.

Ouch. Here's hoping you mend quickly. I'd say enjoy the time off work, but it doesn't sound like it's going to be enjoyable. We wish you well.
