    Good Folk

Just nice to know they are still around. My wife called to tell me she had a flat that went down quickly. She managed to drive to the exit about a mile (US 90 and HWY 63 near Roch. MN) and pull onto the adjoining gravel road. Took me about 15 minutes to get there. I got started on the tire change and no less than 5 people stopped to offer help. One guy told me that he would be in the shed up the road and that if I had any trouble, I should come and get him.

Today I took the tire to Discount Tire Warehouse with receipt in hand knowing that my wife having driven on the flat had toasted the side walls. I expected them to say that the flat would have been repairable if she hadn't driven on it. Instead, he said that was what he would want his wife to do and that the tire was fully covered because I had purchased the road hazard coverage. No argument, no cost to me, just out the door with a new tire in 15 minutes.

Glad people are there for you when you need it.

It is nice to hear that people are still nice and stop to see if you need help when along side the road. So many times these days people don't stop. That is a nice story.

I moved to Minnesota 12 years ago, and people are really nice here. Gotta stick together against the cold and the mosquitos!

I like to tell this story whenever I get a little frustrated with people's lack of compassion for their fellow man. Several years ago, I was coming home from work in typical 5:00 rush hour traffic on I-40. I was in the passing lane when at 55 mph, my cam belt broke. When this happens, everything stops. Fortunately, going downhill, I had enough momentum to get off the Interstate
and coast part way up the exit ramp. I stood there with my hood up for quite a long time. Many people passed, looked and continued on their way.

Finally a young Black guy, very well dressed, very well spoken and driving a new VW GTI stopped and offered assistance. He was the only person who even offered any help at all. Made me feel really good, and have never forgotten it. Wish I could see this gentleman again.

So, when I get overly concerned with peoples actions, or inactions, I like to think of this story. Hope I didn't bore you, just thought maybe this story would apply.

          Glenn,

Your tale could be an allegory for this forum. People here always seem to stop when you need them.
