    Montana Trip

Well over the weekend we took a trip to Montana. The one reason that got us going over that way was a good friend of mine was getting married. Well after looking at a map and figuring out where Stan lived we planned on stopping by his house also.

The drive over there, even though it was rainy, was beautiful. I fell in love with the country over in that state and one day would like to go back for a longer visit in the summer time. Stan and his wife Liz fed us lunch and we had a WONDERFUL time there. Our kids enjoyed it and told me before they left for school that they want to go back there and visit some more.

On the drive down from Kalispell to a small town called Seeley Lake, Stan told us to watch for the deer and man did we. They were every where along the drive. Mark said we must have seen about a hundred of them or more. We saw frozen lakes and mist covered mountains and just some gorgeous country side.

I recommend the trip to anyone who wants to see some of the country in Montana. I am so glad that we went.

I grew up in Montana, about 30 miles north of where Stan lives (Kalispell was where we went when we needed to go to "the city").

I remember hunting for Easter Eggs in the snow. And on the other end, I also remember trick-or-treating in the snow.

Winter can be kind of long in that part of the world, but the beauty makes up for it. Really miss that place, and the LOML and I keep are keeping our eyes open for job opportunities in order to get back there.

I've never been to Montana before, but my wife has given me permission to go on an extended motorcycle ride this summer. I'm thinking about riding into Billings, then heading south out of Red Lodge on the Bear Tooth Highway. The pictures I've seen of that area look absolutely stunning.

You mean that everyone doesn't hunt Easter eggs in the snow?

Gotta say, it was a great pleasure to meet and chat with Mark, Melissa and the kids. And of course, as it always is with short visits, we wish it could have been longer and can't wait until the next trip.

Course we have kids in Portland, so there will always be the trips we take over through Washington State. A short detour will be in the plans.
