    Another Promotion!

I just got a call from Sandy (LOML) and she told me she had just gotten a call from the District Manager offering her a position as Store Manager in a town about 50 miles away. She's the Assistant Store Manager here in Grove, a position she took just 6 months ago.

We have elected to take the offer (it's a 35% increase!) and we'll be moving (again) to Miami Oklahoma. She has to report to work there a week from Monday. This will be the FOURTH move in three years.............enough already!

Now we can get serious about buying a home and settling down a bit.

Well, congrats on your wife's promotion. 35% more income sounds pretty darn good. So what kind of tools are you going to buy now. No, really sounds good. I was in retail for 15 years and yes they do seem to like transferring you around a lot but I guess it comes with the job. 50 miles away isn't much. Most of my transfers were hundreds of miles away if not out of state. I didn't care for that much but hey what else you gonna do, right? Anyway, again congrats I know your wife's pumped about it. Always a rush to get promoted.

Yes, you'll definitely want a 35% increase in your tool budget. What does she think you've been letting her work for, anyway?
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!

Out here in California 50 miles one way is a normal daily comute. In fact 50 mile is probably not even considered a comute much less normal. I comuter 75 mile one way for 4 years, wanted the promotion but did not want to move because wife had a great job and kids were happy and active in school. We looked at the new town and decided it was not for us.

Those of you not knowing, it's pronounced "My am a" here in Okieland.

Kind of a lateral movement as far as cost of living and property pricing is concerned so the 35% ought to go a long way. More tools as someone mentioned.

          Congrats!

              George,

Been lurking here a while and seen your address in Jay. I live just down the road a piece in Salina. Now I see your moving further away. I am up that way sometimes as the wife likes to hit the junk stores. Might call you up somtime if I am up that way and we can shoot the bull a little.

Congratulaions to your wife and to you. I never really noticed how close to me you are. I am probably around 35 to 40 miles away from Miami. I have been known to donate to the local Indian Casinos there. There is a sawmill in Granby, Mo that I buy from. You will be in range of them. Their name is H&H Hardwoods and they are actually between Granby and Neosho, MO.

Good luck on your move and tool budget.

                  Congrats and good luck.

2 things to remember: #1 - It's My am uh not Miami (like the one in Florida)
#2 - you'll be real close to the saw mill in Pryor
                  Enjoy

Hmm... LOML's name is Sandi. Imagine that. Congrats on the promotion. I know the feeling on moving - several years ago I was a contractor and moved 5 times in 2 yrs but I was single then everything I owned filled a rental truck less than half way.
