    Red Oak deal?

I just got home from my favorite salvage store (Odd Lots kinda place) and they have several thousand bf of red oak 1x6x12' (and longer) planed, jointed and bullnosed for $1.79/linear ft. Works out to $3.58/bf.

Is this a gloat deal that you'ld jump at?

I also have a lumber yard near me that has rough 1x? Oak (red?) for $3/bf.

    Thanks,
    Tim

I guess if you can use it with all the mill work done it is a good deal. I just bought some RO 5/4 rough and the lumber guy S2S for free. Cost me about 3.22/bd ft. Im pretty sure if I was buying a bigger quantity I could get it even cheaper.

Its not a gloat but it might save you some work on surfacing. In my area I can get 4/4 S3S Red Oak for 3.15 BF. Rough is 2.95 - costs 20c a BF to surface 3 sides.

I just picked up 203 bf 4/4 rough cut white oak for $1.50 a bf at a local saw mill. Their pricing on red was the same and as well charged 20 cents a bf for S3S. The guy only charged me for 167 bf, so I got it a little cheaper than $1.50, but that is the going price down here for most of the mills in my area.

          Thanks guys,

I'm thinking it would make some nice cab face frames and maybe the door panels. Rip off the bullnose and I'm glueing up panels.

The saved labor would be worth it for me.
