    Crispy or Chewy?

    Cookies that is.

I am sitting here eating some that my MIL sent. They are crispy but I really love 'em in all their fresh-baked from the oven, soft enough to fall apart, gooey chololate chunks cooled just enough to not burn your mouth goodness. Scrumptious.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible

I'm a soft kinda guy. the secret to crispy/soft is in the preparation of the butter.

Don't you just hate that. So good you just can't stop. Next thing you know, your stomach hurts...but you'll have one or two more anyway. I equate that with "ice cream throat". So cold your throat gets numb but you know your gonna finish that d*mn ice cream

Chewy for me, (with at least a quart of cold milk)

A couple nights ago my neighbor brought me a plate of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Warm and chewy, great comfort food.

                      Isn't it obvious??

Crispy on the edges, and chewy in the center! Especially for chocolate chip!

Also holds for brownies. My MIL and I wrassle over the corner pieces, but usually save 2 corners for each other.

I agree with Curt, the dough is great. But I do like mine warm and chewy right out of the oven. Of course I am diabetic, so I guess you would have to make them with Splenda.

Assuming we are speaking of the home baked varieties: Chocolate chip, Oatmeal, Peanut butter, etc...

Gotta be chewy, though a bit of crispy around the outside is acceptable.

To my thinking, Crispy=overcooked (such a waste of dough!)

                          Now I'm hungry.

Why am I reading this thread ? I just lost 65 lbs, and I think I gaind 10 back just by reading this stuff. Yikes, I'd better get out of here before I decide to make a mad dash to the cookie jar. God sure has a heck of a sense of humor. Anything that tastes real good, is no good for us, and vice-versa.
