One danger that I have seen with both programs like Partition Magic, and replacement/upgrade drives: Some systems don't come with the os disks. They sometimes come with a cd (or none at all) that have a pointer to a hidden partition that contains the os. So if that drive dies, or you delete the hidden partition, you get to go out and spend a bunch more money, for a new os copy.
