So, long story short, I'm chatting with one of the other dads last night at a Girl Scout Father-Daughter dance. It's a "Cowboy" theme.
I was telling him how I was striking out trying to buy a cowboy hat, and then got a great deal on one that afternoon. (I told the owner of the western wear store I needed a $20 hat for the dance, and he handed me one with a $45 price tag, and said he could let it go for $20. Sweet!)
So, the other dad tells me he got the Stetson he was wearing from his dad, who got it for free when he got back from Iran. "Yeah," he continued, "everyone was giving free stuff to the hostages when they returned in '81." His dad was the ambassador at the time.
Regards,
Tom
