    Virtual Blue Angels video

I have been a big fan of the Blue Angels since I was a kid. At 44 I am an a avid gamer and I work in the computer industry. I ran accross a video by the "Virtual Blue Angels" that uses a flight simulator software called Lock On that is modded to skin the F18's to look like the Blue Angels. Some of the Virtual Blue Angles are pilots and have great skill to pull this off. Simply amazing! I had no idea that flight sim software had become that sophistocated.

Here is a link to the video:

That's pretty cool! Thanks for posting it.

I love the Angels, better than the Thunderbirds in my opinion. Of course either of them are far superior to any other demonstration team.

Ya' know...I got to fly with the Thunderbirds once as a member of the media. I was a flying traffic reporter, so when the station was asked for a volunteer...I was a logical choice I guess. Great fun!

I have Flight simulator and find it very relaxing to buzz along on my DC-4 I downloaded from the web. It's a great program!

I also do MS Train Simulator occassionally, but having worked for the railroad...it's too close to real. Sit and stare out the window...blow the horn...sit and stare out the window...derail the **** train...sit and stare out the window...etc. Only thing missing are the idiots running around the gates in front of you.

Cool vid I remember seeing them when I was a kid. We lived in rural Idaho and they flew practice over the potatoe fields near our house. Those F-4 Phantoms were neat Anybody remember hearing sonic booms?

          Scott, that was great.
I watched the Thunderbirds many times while I was in the USAF and thought they were good, I have seen the Canadian AF team a couple times, those guys are crazy and would come across the flight line below the roof level of the hangers.
The first time that I saw the Blue Angels was in 1986 when I moved here to Seattle, I haven't missed a performance since. That is precision flying at it's best.

Think I'll watch Top Gun tonight.

I'm an Air Force guy and think the Blue Angels are better then the Thunderbirds. Altough the T-birds are still top notch.

On Saturday and Sunday the 18 $19 the Blue Angels will be at the now closed Mather AFB here in Sacramento. I will be taking my 4 grandchildern to see them or at least the 2 grandsons. My son and his wife were both in the Airforce and I have seen the Thunderbirds many times, from the F100's to F16. I have alway enjoyed the seeing them, the Angels will be a treat. I was in the Army and all they wanted to do was jump out of perfectly good airplanes.

I grew up with them. Germany's Lower Rhine area in the 1960's was a popular training spot for the Airforces (Royal, U.S.), with not much regards for cities. Some of them really rattled the windows something fierce!
