the colour of money - $10 colour u.s.

i saw on msnbc today that the u.s. is introducing coloured $10 bills in addition to colourized versions of the $20 and $50 bills:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11636512/

at least we won't be the only ones on the continent with 'monopoly' money anymore. it will sure make it a lot easier for visitors to the u.s. like me who inadvertantly pass over $10's as $1's etc.

what next a 'loonie'? the american $1 bill is such an institution around the entire world that i hope they keep it the way it is. some things are better just left alone.

what do you think of coloured bills vs the 'greenback'?

Money? Real, paper, stick in your wallet money?
I haven't used that in years. Even Wendy's takes CC now, and most places do debit cards from the banks.
I guess they need greenbacks for the lottery players and the Dollar Store.

patiently waiting for the Dollar bill to go the way of the dinosaur. Life of a bill is about 5 years, life of a coin is more than most governments (can't think of one that is as old as some of the coins I have)

We are one of the few countries that has a bill for that small of a denomination.

I can't believe this country still mints pennies. I mean, come on folks, just round the price up/down to the nearest nickle.

Read a suppplement to WSJ on money couple days ago. Did you know that US officially eliminated as currency all bills over $100 in 1969 because of no demand? Lifespan of a $1 bill is below 18 months. Federal regulations require that any reproduction of US currency be at least 1-1/2 times larger than actual size or up to 3/4 of actual size? And no bill can be reproduced in color.
The cost of minting a penny is 9/10 of a penny?
Real money is such a pain. I think paying cash will become illegal in couple years.

            Cash Is King!

I don't care what any of you all say, Cash Is King.

I try to keep a wad of cash at all times on me. Now more so than ever after I offered to pay for lunch for a client and peeled off a couple 20's. He laughed, called it a Michigan bankroll, and demonstrated his wad of 100's, 50's, 20's, etc. How embarassing! I guess I just that think the less anyone knows about what I do and what I buy and when I buy it, the better. (except for major purchaes)

One thing that my pa taught me, however, was always to pay for your sin in cash. That is, gamble in cash, drink with cash, buy cigs in cash, etc. I can't see getting drunk on credit or buying chips in AC on credit, kinda skeeves me out, a sign of an addiction.

(for those who don't know: a 'loonie' is a Canadian dollar coin, featuring a loon on the reverse)

We are already on our second try at getting dollar coins circulating widely.
It doesn't seem like the golden Sacagawea dollar coin is getting any more traction than the almost-indistinguishable-from-a-quarter Susan B. Anthony. Our politicians were too cowardly to take the dollar bill out of circulation, thus cheating the taxpayers out of the potential savings.

We haven't had one or two dollar bills in so long up here in canuckland, we play "slot machine" with the dancers. They lie on their backs with their legs in the air and guys try to pitch their loonies and toonies and hit the "coin slots"
