    Anyone been watching Curling? Olympics

A few mornings this past week I've been flipping channels while trying to get out of bed and came across Curling. Kept watching too, much to my bosses' chargin, I imagine. I've seen curling before, but never found it interesting until now. Seen now both Women's and Men's, today saw the US vs. Great Britian, err..Scotland, Bronze medal match. Each time I watched I was kinda riveted, and feel geeky for it.

so, My name is Curtiss and I'm developing an addiction to Curling.

There, I've said it. Any others?

And, I've rationalized the "sport" this way, its Scottish by birth so its inherently man-ly. Its not a wuss sport. Tossing stones and all is, after all, very brutish.

I hadn't watched curling before, but I've likewise been hooked on it in these Olympics. The precision of those throws ("slides"?) is nothing short of amazing.

A Grrrrreat, grrrreat game (insert Scottish accent)

Curt, it is a super sport, whether played at the competitive or the recreational level. Having said that, I do not reccomend Mixed (2 men, two women) with your spouse, its somewhat akin to hanging wallpaper together. There is no Mixed at the Olympics and not sure if there are Mixed World Championships, but here in Canada there are Canadian Mixed Champions declared every year. (what else you gonna do when its -20 outside? can't play golf) Canadian men play for Gold tomorrow around 10:30am I think.

I have been home sick the last couple of days and got hooked on it too. Good job USA to win the bronze!

I'd rather watch soccer than curling. And soccer is only a slight improvement over drying paint.

DAMMIT. Next time, please consider that there are people out in Internet Land who haven't yet seen a sporting event because they are taping it to watch later ...

I understand from my Canadian friends that drinking beer is a substantial part of the game. A very substatial part of the game. I wonder why tha's not shown on the coverage?

LarryG, sorry buddy, but you've finally reached your limit of don't-talk-about-it-because-I'm-taping-it complaints. You're recording the curling broadcast for later review? Curling for later review!? To the shop with you, man!

TV coverage here in Canada is partially sponsored by the big brewery so they would insist on certain brand. Actually a few pints while participating is just preventative medicine. It dulls the pain if you slip and whack your head on the ice.

Send me some of that gorgeous California weather the pro peloton is currently enjoying each day and I'll gladly comply with that directive. (But I'll still be taping the curling ...)

And BTW I thought the whole point of ANY participatory sport was to drink beer??? If not during, then surely after.

I figured I was the only one that got hooked on this. I can't stand something like bowling or golf on TV, but this is mesmerizing.

I was under the impression that drinking beer WAS a sport!

Being pissed to the gills is the only way that anyone can tolerate something so utterly boring! A game that was invented by the Scots, the same ones who think throwing telephone poles is fun, or whacking a little ball with a curved stick and then chasing after it, over and over again. Gawd, they must have been bored! And drunk!

Yes, this is coming from a Canadian whose wife LOVES curling, and I am forced to watch endless hours of mind-dulling extreme boredom. We get bombarded with about 2 months of televised curling every year.........constantly, 24/7..........it never ends! Arrgghhhh!

I have NEVER been drunk enough to participate, and I've been so drunk I couldn't crawl to the bathroom to puke in my hair.

Curling is the most idiotic sport known to man!

A 24 a day doesn't even begin to dull the boredom from watching it.
