    8 Below (again)

Just went and saw it. First movie LOML and I have seen in the theater together since Snow Dogs (She didn't want to see Star Wars 3 with me). It is a very good and at times heartrending movie. If you are a true dog lover, you will likely cry (I had a few tears rolling).

Not a comedy like Snow Dogs but it has it's moments, Similar in tone to Yellow Dog.

It is an good movie for older kids. I took two of our neighbors 11 year olds and they enjoyed it. But it is a survival movie (and not all the huskies survive). There are a couple scenes that will scare small children.

My in-laws wanted to take my boys to see it. They are 6 1/2 & 4. I used the movie mom review at Yahoo movies, and it said that the movie was not for younger children. In-laws went to see it by themselves and were very glad they didn't take my boys. They said it have very scary and graphic scenes that would've scared the "you know what" out of my kids. Other than that, they said it is a great movie.

That's what my in-laws said. My mother in law told me she jumped about two feet.

I think about half the audience was ready for clean underwear the day we saw it.

If you want some more info on the original story Google for "Taro and Jiro", They were the two surviving dags out of 13 left behind by a Japanese group in Antarctica in 1958.

The original movie is "Nankyoku Monogatari", but it's not out on DVD, so finding a copy would be tough.

The original book is "Pawprints In Japan: Dogs In Myth and History" by Nicholas C. Rhoden. Out of print and expensive (if you can find it.)
